Glassbook House makes the shortlist for this year’s NSW AIA Awards

Earlier this year we presented our first built project in Sydney, the Glassbook house, to the NSW Australian Institute of Architect’s jury for the residential alterations and additions category. Being the most highly regarded awards program in the country, we were chuffed to be shortlisted! Check out all the other excellent projects here.

Double shortlist for Dulux Colour Awards!

Excited to make the Dulux Colour Awards shortlist for two of our projects this year. Both the Darebin Arts Centre and the Glassbook House have a strong navy look, complemented by warm golden tones. Congratulations to all other shortlisted entries!

Covid-19 update

Wishing everyone safety and sanity during this unprecedented time of lock down. We are so fortunate to be able to keep up with business as usual whilst working from the safety of our homes. We are grateful for the essential workers who keep things ticking, this extends also to our builders who continue to progress things safely on site. A big thank you from all of us at Sibling <3

Dance floor in collaboration with Amrita Hepi now open!

We have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with award-winning First Nations artist and choreographer Amrita Hepi to design a dance floor for the Summer of Dance program at the Immigration Museum. Amrita and her collaborators  will take over the Long Room with An Extimate Surface: a program of film, performance and installation that sees place and dance making in action. See the full program here!. Photography by Jacqui Shelton.

Sibling Stable House underway!

Our Sibling Stable house is well under way 🙂
All the framing is up…and we feel the house nestles quite comfortably within the old stable brick walls.

We love watching the details as they come together…the concrete sala cloud seat and papaya grid ceramic tile cladding.
Aiming for lockup before Christmas…and completion by Autumn 2020!

New Agency at Sao Paulo Biennial

Will your house outlive you? What kind of ancestor do you want to be? These are some of the questions we’re asking in our film showing at Everyday, the twelfth edition of the International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo, which has just opened this week! The film is part of New Agency, our research project that looks towards the future of housing through the lens of an ageing population.

Everyday, proposes to professionals and the public to reflect on the everyday – the most trivial dimension of reality – to investigate architecture and the built environment of the 21st century. Everyday presents practices and projects ranging from construction to design, planning, photography, pedagogy, research, policy making and activism, crossing disciplines, scales and boundaries.

Sibling is an architecture practice that cares about making people’s lives better. We do this by creating environments, experiences and strategies that respond to social needs and desires, making everyday life easier, more engaging, and more fun.
