Overview

Glenhuntly’s Booran Reserve has undergone a $10.8 million upgrade with a play space designed by ACLA Consultants to attract families both near and far. This park, along with the character Upsy Daisy who appears in the children television series In The Night Garden, is inspiration for this cafe opposite Booran Reserve in order for it to become an extension of the playspace. A turquoise, teal and green garden is suspended above the cafe with shapes referencing the playground and the magical forest where Upsy Daisy resides. All elements below the datum of the garden recede in colour and texture to form elements (lights, banquettes, benches and yohgurt dispensers). The result is a playful design that captures the essence of being a big kid, especially for those who are too old to play in Booran Reserve, or those looking for the perfect end to a playdate.
