Overview

Sun Stadium at the University of Queensland is our second work with multi-disciplinary artist Amrita Hepi, This projects explores public participation and various forms of choreography; from Amrita’s work as a choreographer and dancer to the everyday performances of public spaces. Sun Stadium takes all of these layers of movement and introduces a new choreography partner – the sun
Sun Stadium is many things at once; a dancefloor, a place to sit and wait for the bus, and a sundial! It is centred around the relationship between your body and the environment, and invites your shadow to dances across its surface, which is a composition of reused materials by the amazing team at Five Mile Radius . Embedded in the work is a mirrored poem by Wiradjuri artist and poet Jazz Money , grounding the piece beautifully. This project, three years in the making, highlights our dedication and teamwork, and we’re grateful to Amrita for this creative journey.
