A focal point for a regional campus
Peninsula Campus Hub
Overview
Eating is an activity that brings people together. The refurbishment of the Campus Hub at Monash University’s Peninsula Campus creates a focal point within the campus for student, staff and visitors to come together. Within the space, smaller focal points offer a variety of spatial arrangements for people to inhabit for lunching, studying, meeting and observing. Clusters of furniture can be re-arranged or they can all be moved to allow for large events to take over the entire space. Located next to a retirement village, the space is also used by older members of the neighbourhood, which demonstrates the success of the project in using food as a way to draw in people to the campus.
