City of Sydney Creative Studios

The City of Sydney Creative Studios is an exciting cultural and community facility in the heart of Sydney's CBD. Bringing together various creative disciplines from contemporary dancers, digital animators, sound producers and artists, the Creative Studios will seed new cultural activities in the city centre and contribute to the creative community’s recovery from the pandemic. Sibling has designed the cafe and community spaces throughout the studios, offering a place for the various creators to gather and cross pollinate. The ground level common space is also accessible to the public, inviting them in to experience this new cultural facility within the CBD. Central to this zone is a multimodal cafe joinery bench. It's rotating gates allow the cafe to be accessible from all directions and used as an event space, or closed off to manage the day to day operations of a cafe.
A refined but textured material palette of spotted gum, embossed stainless steel and perforated mesh work together as a backdrop for the cultural activities of the studios.
